Sterile Tech. Course

 

Course includes:

• Preparation for the CRCST certification exam (IAHCSMM)

All our instructors are Certified Registered Central Service Technicians that successfully pass this exam themselves. They provide students with valuable tips and help them to build the right strategy to ace the test.
The course’s 120 hours in-depth coverage spread over easy-to- manage 9 weekends sessions.

 

Students will:

• learn how to analyze exam questions and maximize final score;

• learn both the theory and practical aspects of Central Service;

• practice exercises offered for each topic;

• will review material featured on the exams in the past;

• have FREE practice exams to help students build confidence and preparedness.

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

• perform the principles of infection control and personal protection in the decontamination, packaging and sterilization of instruments and equipment;

• perform decontamination procedures and practices on patient care equipment, and surgical instruments;

• prepare equipment and supplies for sterilization;

• package instruments and supplies;

• sterilize instruments and supplies;

• clean, check and prepare micro-instruments for sterilization;

• identify predictable problems in the care and handling of instrumentation;

• apply the principles of inventory control, sterile storage and distribution of supplies.

Career Opportunities

Program prepares students to work as an entry level employees through the healthcare industry - in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics, and as Central Service (SC) consultants, private professional practices, and specialized retail sales.
Further training for management positions also available for technicians with extensive experience.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Candidates must have to have at least a High School Diploma or GED.

 

Job Outlook

The BLS projected outlook for the growth of jobs for sterile processing technicians expected to increase by 11% which equates to around 5,000 new employment opportunities.

Salary Projections

In May 2015 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) placed the median pay for surgical technologists around $48,000 a year or roughly $23 an hour.
Salaries in managerial positions may exceed $100,000.
