Q. Is There a Difference Between a Surgical Technologist and a Sterile Processing Technician?
A. Most of the duties of a surgical technologist are in the operating room helping the surgical team directly by aiding and performing tasks during the procedure. The sterile processing technician, on the other hand, is outside of the OR and mainly deals with the cleaning and sterilization of equipment and medical instruments.

Surgical Technologist Education and Certification.
Students are required to take courses in anatomy, biochemistry, medical terminology and ethics, pharmacology and biology, and much more from the CAAHEP accredited surgical technology training programs offered throughout the United States.

There is only one requirement for enrollment in to this program. You must have at least a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Programs vary from 9 to 24 months depending on the degree or certificate. Students preparing in both classroom environment and clinical experience.
Completion of the program will grant you access to take the NBSTSA exam to become a certified surgical technologist (CST).

Our company, Multyprep, Inc., is offering a training program to become a Sterile Processing Technician. Students will learn methods of sterilizing, storing, cleaning and inspecting equipment and instruments before and after surgeries as well take courses in microbiology, medical terminology and disease control.
Requirements for enrollment in this program is: high school diploma, GED. Training program is 120 hours (9 weekends). The program includes theoretical, lab and practical parts of training. After completion of our program students will be eligible to take a certification exam. These certifications can come from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
